選択問題のコツ
選択問題を解く時は、
- パラフレーズの予測
- アクセントの位置
の二点に注意して解いてください。
1. パラフレーズの予測
例えば「1. パラフレーズの予測」の場合、
- The best place for holding the party is 1.___________
- 「パーティを開催するのに最適な場所は…」
と言う情報から「場所」に関する類義表現に対して、アンテナを張ってリスニングするようにします。
今回の場合、実際に「Venue：開催場所」というあえて難易度の高い語彙が音声で使用されていましたね。
このように、設問と同じフレーズや語彙ではなく、それらの類義表現を考えておくことで情報の聞き逃しを減らすことができます。
2. アクセントの位置
英語はカタカナとして認識していると、判断しにくいものがあります。
例えば、
- Fifty [ fífti ]
- Fifteen [ fìftíːn ]
のような数字ですね。
これらはカタカナに文字起こしすると「フィフティ」「フィフティーン」と語尾の細かなニュアンスで判断する必要があり、実際の会話では判断しにくいです。
そこで重要になるのが、アクセントの位置で英語を判断するということです。
アクセントを意識して先ほどの例を見てみると、
- Fifty [ fífti ]
- Fifteen [ fìftíːn ]
と、アクセントの位置が異なることが分かります。
英語は「強勢拍子」という音声性質をもち、アクセントの位置で単語を判断する性質があります。
もし、こういった問題を間違えてしまった場合は、アクセントの位置を復習の時に確認するようにしてください。
リスニング力だけでなく、発音の精度向上にも効果的です。
